John B. Wright, Jr., CCIM
John earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Financial Management from Clemson University with a Concentration in Real Estate and Minor in Accounting in December of 2010. While at Clemson, John was a member of the football team from 2006-2010 where he walked on, earned a scholarship, and lettered in his final two seasons of 2009 and 2010.
After graduating from Clemson, John spent over a year working in the financial services industry assisting clients with investment, retirement, and estate planning. He joined McCoy Wright in July of 2012 as a brokerage associate. John quickly found his niche in the commercial real estate industry as evidenced by the more than $60 Million that he has brokered and developed since joining the team. In 2015, John earned the coveted CCIM Designation, which is the highest certification in the commercial real estate industry. In January of 2020 John took over McCoy Wright as President and became the fourth generation owner.
He is very involved in the community and was elected to the At-Large Seat for Anderson School District Five in November of 2016. He has served on the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors where he became the youngest Board Chair in the organization’s history at just 28 years old. He has also served on the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee and the Junior Leadership Anderson Advisory Committee.
John currently serves on the Anderson University Board of Visitors, Ten At The Top Board of Directors, and the Appalachian Development Corporation Board. He is a graduate of Leadership Anderson and is also an active member of New Spring Church. He was recognized by the Anderson Independent Mail as one of the top 20 business leaders in the community under the age of 40 in 2012 and was also recognized by the South Carolina School Board Association for his commitment to public education.
John and his wife, Courtland, reside in Anderson with their two sons, Brazeal and Ballard, and he is passionate about carrying on a family and business legacy in Anderson that spans over seven decades and four generations.
John B. Wright, Sr., CCIM
John Brazeal Wright, Sr. began his career in real estate in 1976 and founded McCoy Wright Realty, Inc. in 1980. In 1995 he dedicated his real estate company solely to the commercial, investment and development fields. He is a graduate of the Realtors Institute and is a licensed broker in both South Carolina and Georgia. Notably John is a designee of the prestigious CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member, the highest level of accreditation awarded to only 5% of commercial/investment realtors) and he has served as South Carolina CCIM President as well as on both the National CCIM Strategic Planning and Member Services committees. In addition to holding a Certified General Appraisers License, he also has his General Contractor’s license. His broad scope of experience includes business consultation, sales, leasing, asset and property management, site analysis, appraisal, construction, development, investment analysis along with acquisition, sales, and leasing of residential, commercial and investment real estate. John is a Certified Mediator, and his strong negotiation skills and contract knowledge are valuable assets to his clients.
John attended the University of Tennessee at Martin where he played football and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. He is also a Carnegie Leadership and Performance Development graduate and served as an assistant Carnegie instructor.
John is very community minded and is currently on the Board of Directors for the Anderson University Board of Visitors and the Board of Directors of the Anderson Area Touchdown Club, and the South Carolina Association of Realtors Legal Action Committee. Formerly John served as President of the Anderson Association of Realtors Board of Directors, the South Carolina Realtors Board of Directors, and as a member of the South Carolina Association of Realtors Political Action Committee. He is also a graduate of South Carolina Realtors Leadership Program. In addition John served on the Board of Directors for the Anderson Free Clinic, the Board of Directors of the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce, as Chairman of the Chamber’s Transportation/Infrastructure Committee, and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Kiwanis Club, and is a recipient of the Anderson Independent Mail’s 15 Over 50 award. During his years as President and Broker in Charge of McCoy Wright Realty, Inc., the company received the Costar Award a total of six times as one of the Top 10 transaction brokers in the upstate.
John has always been actively engaged in sports and his hobbies have included long distance running, marathon competitions, martial arts, rowing, and coaching basketball and football.
He and his wife Nancy Lu have been married 43 years; they have three married children and seven grandchildren and all are active members of NewSpring Church.
Emory J. Williamson, Jr., BIC
Emory is a Qualifying Broker in Georgia and South Carolina and serves McCoy Wright, Inc. as its EVP and BIC with specific focus on corporate oversight, business development and regional tenant rep programs and relationships.
He transacts in all states and handles franchisee & corporate location development from Canada to Florida – encompassing all states east of the Mississippi River as well as leases, acquisitions, build-to-suits and fee development. His commercial real estate experience spans 23 years and includes current management at any one time upwards of 25 site engagements in various markets having included New York, Ontario, Rhode Island, Florida, Texas, Missouri, Tennessee, Alabama, Maryland, Colorado, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky and Virginia. He regularly works with franchisor/franchisee & corporate engagements on market identification, site location, negotiation, acquisitions, lease negotiations, BTS, fee development, lease revisions, lease work-outs, dispositions and expansions. Emory has and currently works with the following brands some of which include franchisees: Brakes 4 Less, Jeremiah’s Italian Ice, Pivotal Growth Partners, I-Hop, 7-Eleven, BizMax Copy Centers, Dunkin Brands, Quick Trip, Circle K and AAMCO. He currently reviews approximately 50 site submissions a week for represented brands in all geographic markets.
Rich is a developer who has been involved in projects throughout the upstate of South Carolina and beyond. He has and continues to support and participate in real estate developments for these markets which include singular and partnership interests (past and present) in the following:
• Clemson Grove – a 300+ acre mixed used development anchoring the Pendleton market and supporting the entry of Arthrex as well as servicing Michelin employees.
• Watermarke Luxury Condos – the past development of Lake Hartwell’s first luxury condo development in the Anderson market.
• McClain Pointe – One of the premier subdivisions on Lake Hartwell.
• Numerous other development projects increasing growth for their related communities.
All total, Mr. Bennett has brokered and developed several hundred million dollars of commercial real estate.
Rich and His wife, Heather, reside in Townville with their son, Lathan. In his free time, Rich loves traveling and fishing with his family.
Carr Kaufmann, CPM
Carr received his Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Clemson University and his Master of Business Administration from Georgia State University. He attended the Carl Duisberg Institute in Radolfezell, Germany studying the German language with international professionals and students. He is a recipient of the Congress-Bundestag Scholarship, one of 50 people selected nationwide. Under this grant Carr was paid to study and work in Germany. Upon his return from Germany he received the Goethe Institute Certificate for the highest score possible in comprehension of the German language. In 1994 Carr received his Real Estate License and in 2008 the Certified Property Manager, (CPM), designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management, (IREM). Carr served on the Board of Directors for IREM’s Georgia Chapter and was the 2012 Chapter President. During Carr’s term as President, IREM’s Georgia Chapter received IREM’s prestigious Gold Award for excellence for the first time in the history of the Chapter, recognizing the Georgia Chapter as the best chapter in the world. Carr received his Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Clemson University and his Master of Business Administration from Georgia State University. Carr has over twenty-seven years of commercial real estate experience and holds real estate broker licenses for the states of Georgia and South Carolina. His primary focus in commercial real estate has been in property management of office, retail, industrial and medical space. His responsibilities have also included asset management, business development, and management of interior tenant construction, large and small building renovations, as well as major development and redevelopment projects. Examples of completed projects include build-to-suits for the American Cancer Society, Southern Tennis Association, Georgia Automobile Dealers Association, animal hospitals in Alpharetta, GA and Phoenix, AZ, several retail stores for an expanding California-based smoothie franchise and the redevelopment of high-rise urban office buildings in Atlanta. The aggregate value of construction projects managed by Carr exceeds $300,0000,000. Carr also has extensive experience in managing lease acquisitions on behalf of the General Services Administration with projects across the United States and in Puerto Rico. To date Carr has managed over 100 Federal lease transactions. Current and past project sizes range from approximately 1,000 to 300,000 square feet with a collective value in excess of $100,000,000.
In his free time, Carr enjoys spending time with his wife and children as well as repairing cars, boating, reading, and traveling.
Originally from Roswell, GA, Max came to the upstate in the fall of 2012 to attend Clemson University. He is now a permanent resident of Clemson, SC where he and his wife, Hannah, are enjoying their newlywed years.
Before joining McCoy Wright in September of 2018, Max did Business Development for a packaging consulting company, and was an Account Executive with a packaging distribution company. He is now fully engaged with the CRE industry and handles a variety of brokerage, leasing, and development roles within McCoy Wright.
Max is excited to be a part of the legacy that McCoy Wright Inc. has built and is ready to do his part to build on the company’s traditions of success, excellence, and customer service.
Neal retired after 40 years of upper level management for Belk Stores. He is educated in the field of retail marketing and has extensive sales experience.
Shortly after retirement, he started his own insurance company but soon discovered that he not only enjoyed buying and developing commercial real estate, but he enjoyed selling it as well.
He first joined the McCoy Wright Realty Team in 2006, then after a couple years, accepted an offer to manage 4 Hospice Thrift Stores.
Neal felt the draw back to commercial real estate and once again joined team McCoy Wright in 2014. He was met with great enthusiasm by everyone here. We were thankful to have him back!
Neal is a valuable member of the Sales Team and brings a unique viewpoint, extreme attention to detail and a friendly face!
Nancy Lu McCoy-Wright
Nancy Lu is a graduate of Clemson University. She has continued her education in the fields of real estate, finance, and investment.
Her grandfather T. Ree McCoy, Sr., began a construction and real estate development corporation in Anderson in 1952. Nancy Lu’s father, T-Ree McCoy, Jr., worked alongside his father until T. Ree, Sr.’s death in 1964 at which time T. Ree, Jr. carried the business forward with residential and commercial construction and development.
In 1977 Nancy Lu married John B. Wright, Sr. and in 1980 T. Ree, Jr. and John founded McCoy Wright Realty, Inc. which specialized in residential brokerage. By 1995, John as Owner and Broker in Charge made the decision to specialize exclusively in commercial and investment real estate which it continues to do today.
Nancy Lu is excited that all three of her children have continued in the “family” real estate tradition in Anderson. The entire family has a passion and love for the community that has been so good to their family with each having the desire to continue to make this the best place to work, live and raise their families. Their oldest child Ria Hydrick has a residential brokerage firm (Real Estate by Ria), younger daughter Luisa Webster has worked with McCoy Wright since 2007 as Chief Financial Officer but is currently taking some time off with her young family, and son John B Wright, Jr. has recently assumed the role as President and Owner of McCoy Wright as it becomes a 4th generation family business.
Nancy Lu and John have been married for 43 years and have seven grandchildren. They are members of NewSpring Church.
After 42 years as Office Administrator for Monumental Insurance, Gloria chose to retire. Soon after, she joined the McCoy Wright Realty team and has been with them for over eighteen years working in several different roles. She is now in charge of the financial aspect of our new company and offers a high level of customer service to the many McCoy Wright clients as well as support for the office staff.
Gloria is an active member of New Spring Church and enjoys volunteering with different organizations whenever possible.
She has two daughters and one granddaughter and treasures time with her family and adorable kitty, Prissy. Gloria’s favorite hobbies are reading, spending time with friends, and watching her Clemson Tiger’s football games.
Kensie resides in Anderson, SC where she was born and raised. She recently joined the McCoy-Wright team and is excited to be a part of the development of the businesses in her hometown and surrounding areas.
Kensie has a background in Christian Ministry and recently completed an internship at NewSpring Church, where she is an active member. She loves to volunteer with the High School youth group and is a part of the worship team at her church.
In her free time, Kensie loves to write, sing, travel, and spend time with family and friends.
John recently graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Financial Management with a minor in Accounting and Real Estate emphasis.
John lived in upstate South Carolina while attending Clemson since 2016. He will be relocating to Anderson from rural Saluda County, where he spent his entire life involved with the agricultural industry.
Coming directly from college, John is very excited for the opportunity to join McCoy Wright and be a part of its successful history and legacy. John possess a strong interest in the Commercial Real Estate industry and looks forward to each of the relationships that he will make along the way. He is very excited to see what all Anderson has to offer.
