John B. Wright, Jr., CCIM
John earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Financial Management from Clemson University with a Concentration in Real Estate and Minor in Accounting in December of 2010. While at Clemson, John was a member of the football team from 2006-2010 where he walked on, earned a scholarship, and lettered in his final two seasons of 2009 and 2010.
After graduating from Clemson, John spent over a year working in the financial services industry assisting clients with investment, retirement, and estate planning. He joined McCoy Wright in July of 2012 as a brokerage associate. In 2015, John earned the coveted CCIM Designation, which is the highest certification in the commercial real estate industry. In January of 2020 John took over McCoy Wright as President and became the fourth generation owner.
John began his CRE career developing listing inventory and third-party brokerage agreements throughout the Western Upstate market. His growth in the industry has led to major retail and institutional engagements, large re-development projects, build-to-suits and investment property acquisition and disposition. John works in many locales particularly in the area of investment real estate. These endeavors have resulted in transactions surpassing $100 million. Over the course of his career, just some of the clients and brands with whom John has worked are: McDonalds, Anderson County, City of Anderson, Anderson County School District, AnMed, Mattress Firm, Dunkin Brands, Lowes Foods, Stop A Minit, Circle K, 7 Eleven and many many more.
He is very involved in the community and was elected to the At-Large Seat for Anderson School District Five in November of 2016 where he served a four year term. He has served on the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors where he became the youngest Board Chair in the organization’s history at just 28 years old. He has also served on the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee and the Junior Leadership Anderson Advisory Committee.
John currently serves on the Anderson County Council, a seat he was elected to in November of 2020, the IPTAY Board of Directors, Anderson University Board of Visitors, and Ten At The Top Board of Directors. He is a graduate of Leadership Anderson and is also an active member of New Spring Church. He was recognized by the Anderson Independent Mail as one of the top 20 business leaders in the community under the age of 40 in 2012 and was also recognized by the South Carolina School Board Association for his commitment to public education. John is a member of the Western Upstate of REALTORS®, South Carolina Association of REALTORS®, National Association of REALTORS® and International Council of Shopping Centers. John and his wife, Courtland, reside in Anderson, SC with their two sons, Brazeal and Ballard. They maintain a home on Lake Hartwell and membership at Currahee Club enjoying time as a family. John is passionate about carrying on a family and business legacy in Anderson that spans over seven decades and four generations. They are active members in NewSpring Church.
John B. Wright, Sr., CCIM
John began his career in real estate in 1976 and founded McCoy Wright Realty, Inc. in 1980. In 1995 he dedicated his real estate company solely to the commercial, investment and development fields. He is a graduate of the Realtors Institute and is a licensed broker in both South Carolina. Notably John is a designee of the prestigious CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member®, the highest level of accreditation awarded to only 5% of commercial/investment realtors) and he has served as South Carolina CCIM President as well as on both the National CCIM Strategic Planning and Member Services committees. In addition to holding a Certified General Appraisers License, he also has his General Contractor’s license. His broad scope of experience includes business consultation, sales, leasing, asset and property management, site analysis, appraisal, construction, development, investment analysis along with acquisition, sales, and leasing of residential, commercial and investment real estate. John is a Certified Mediator, and his strong negotiation skills and contract knowledge are valuable assets to his clients.
John attended the University of Tennessee at Martin where he played football and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. He is also a Carnegie Leadership and Performance Development graduate and served as an assistant Carnegie instructor.
John is very community minded and is currently on the Board of Directors for the Anderson University Board of Visitors and the Board of Directors of the Anderson Area Touchdown Club, and the South Carolina Association of REALTORS® Legal Action Committee. Formerly, John served as President of the Anderson Association of Realtors Board of Directors, the South Carolina REALTORS® Board of Directors, and as a member of the South Carolina Association of REALTORS® Political Action Committee. He is also a graduate of South Carolina Realtors Leadership Program. In addition, John served on the Board of Directors for the Anderson Free Clinic, the Board of Directors of the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce, as Chairman of the Chamber’s Transportation/Infrastructure Committee, and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Kiwanis Club and is a recipient of the Anderson Independent Mail’s 15 Over 50 award. During his years as President and Broker in Charge of McCoy Wright Realty, Inc., the company received the Costar Award a total of six times as one of the Top 10 transaction brokers in the upstate. He is a member of the Western Upstate Board of REALTORS®, South Carolina Association of REALTORS®, National Association of REALTORS® and the International Council of Shopping Centers.
John has always been actively engaged in sports and his hobbies have included long distance running, marathon competitions, martial arts, rowing, and coaching basketball and football.
He and his wife, Nancy Lu, have been married 44 years and reside in Anderson, SC. They have three married children, eight grandchildren and are active members of NewSpring Church.
Emory J. Williamson, Jr., BIC
Emory is a native of Augusta, GA and began his career as the youngest member of the professional team for PGA Tour Investments, Inc. in Ponte Vedra, FL subsequently employed by Executive Sports in the area of merchandising and licensing where he serviced upwards of 45 PGA, Senior and LPGA Tour events annually. Additionally, he was a major provider of licensed products and branding to ACOP, Atlanta Centennial Olympic Properties, for the 1996 Olympic Games held in Atlanta, GA.
Emory returned to Augusta, GA in 1996 for oversight of family real estate and businesses resulting in his management of the oldest operating commercial real estate services firm in the market, Sherman & Hemstreet. He then operated his own real estate consulting firm until 2015 where provided consulting, mortgage servicing, loan modification and transactional services to lenders such as, but not limited, to SunTrust, BofA, Wells Fargo, Wachovia, BB&T, Chase, JP Morgan, smaller regional lenders and major asset management companies before joining Icahn Automotive, parent company of Pep Boys, AAMCO Transmissions, Precision Tune Auto Care, Cap Auto Parts and A Plus Auto Parts, as Division Real Estate Director. In this role Emory completed transactions in over 20 states including challenging markets such as New Yok, Rhode Island, south Florida, Colorado and many others. His scope of oversight included engagement and management of localized brokers, real estate leasing & acquisitions as well as business dispostions and purchases. He was engaged in 2019 by McCoy Wright as a consultant and overtook company operations later that year in a full time role.
Emory is a Qualifying Broker in Georgia and South Carolina with reciprocal privileges in several other states and serves McCoy Wright, Inc. as its EVP and BIC with a specific focus on corporate oversight, business development and regional tenant rep programs and relationships. He maintains a unique perspective on brokerage management activities, development projects, small company/franchisee growth having served both on the Landlord and User sides of transactions for large corporations and smaller operations.
He is a past Advisory Board Member, Corelogic National Vendor Advisory Panel (First American Title) (2010 – 2011). Certified REOS®, Real Estate Owned Specialist. He transacts in all states and handles franchisee & corporate location development nationally – encompassing leases, acquisitions, build-to-suits and fee development. His commercial real estate experience spans over 25 years. He regularly works with franchisor/franchisee & corporate engagements on market identification, site location, negotiation, acquisitions, lease negotiations, BTS, fee development, lease revisions, lease work-outs, dispositions and expansions. Emory maintains residences with his partner, Jackie, in Augusta, GA, Broad River (Tignall, GA) and Anderson, SC. He is a 5th generation member of the Augusta Country Club. Jackie and Emory spend the majority of their time on the Broad River and Lake Strom Thurmond, have four grown children and enjoy time outdoors, fishing and boating.
Rich is a generational member of the Western Upstate community and began his real estate career in the residential housing, land and development sector where he excelled in areas surrounding Lake Hartwell. He soon moved into the commercial area and expanded his focus in development, BTS, land banking and investment. His specter of business is broad and includes at any one time, industrial, land banking, retail, build to suit and investment properties from outlying growth areas to downtown re-development projects.
He serves as the SVP of Development for McCoy Wright, Inc. and primarily supplies the firm with development inventory and oversight of brokerage and contemplated development projects. He works with the firm’s brokerage staff on a daily basis to determine demand and absorption by national retailers and industrial users. He also provides direction to the company on financing, purchasing and construction strategies. He maintains an excellent command of horizontal & vertical development, financing, site work, utilities, infrastructure needs investment and capital needs in all areas including single and multi-family, retail, specialty and industrial development.
Rich’s development accomplishments are numerous and encompass, but not limited to, Watermark Luxury Condos (Lake Hartwell – multi-story with marina), McClain Pointe (Lake Hartwell – single family), Iron Harbor Self-Storage, Marina Road Self-Storage, Clemson Grove Self Storage, Clemson RV (RV Park – 400 spaces), Pendleton Plaza, A & P Plaza just to name a few. Bennett also has in current development Clemson Grove a 350+ acre mixed use development including 1,000 plus housing units, townhome units, Clemson RV, retail and anchored by Ingles grocery. Forthcoming is Clemson Common, a 65 acre mixed use development at Exit 19 on Clemson Boulevard. Additionally, Rich maintains holdings on Exit 11 and 14 of I-85 where retail projects are currently being undertaken. His holdings venture into the Columbia, SC market. Build to suit projects include Lil Caesars along with retail projects to also include Magnetic South Brewery, Zaxby’s, Autozone, Bojangles, Popeyes, Circle K, 7 Eleven and many others.
Rich maintains excellent relationships throughout the overall community lending success to development in conjunction with major employers, governments and stakeholders in the geography including Clemson University. His projects have supplied a higher level of home ownership and growth in areas resulting in a more substantial tax base for several municipalities. Rich is a member of the Western Upstate of REALTORS®, South Carolina Association of REALTORS®, National Association of REALTORS® and International Council of Shopping Centers.
Rich and his wife, Heather, reside in Anderson (Lake Hartwell). They have one son, Lathan. Rich and his family enjoy offshore fishing and hunting.
Carr Kaufmann, CPM
Carr received his Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Clemson University and his Master of Business Administration from Georgia State University. He attended the Carl Duisberg Institute in Radolfezell, Germany studying the German language with international professionals and students. He is a recipient of the Congress-Bundestag Scholarship, one of 50 people selected nationwide. Under this grant Carr was paid to study and work in Germany. Upon his return from Germany, he received the Goethe Institute Certificate for the highest score possible in comprehension of the German language. In 1994 Carr received his Real Estate License and in 2008 the Certified Property Manager, (CPM®), designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management®, (IREM®). Carr served on the Board of Directors for IREM’s Georgia Chapter and was the 2012 Chapter President. During Carr’s term as President, IREM’s Georgia Chapter received IREM’s prestigious Gold Award for excellence for the first time in the history of the Chapter, recognizing the Georgia Chapter as the best chapter in the world.
Carr has over twenty-seven years of commercial real estate experience and holds real estate broker licenses for the states of Georgia and South Carolina. His primary focus in commercial real estate has been in property management of office, retail, industrial and medical space. His responsibilities have also included asset management, business development, and management of interior tenant construction, large and small building renovations, as well as major development and redevelopment projects. Examples of completed projects include build-to-suits for the American Cancer Society, Southern Tennis Association, Georgia Automobile Dealers Association, animal hospitals in Alpharetta, GA and Phoenix, AZ, several retail stores for an expanding California-based smoothie franchise and the redevelopment of high-rise urban office buildings in Atlanta. The aggregate value of construction projects managed by Carr exceeds $300,0000,000. Carr also has extensive experience in managing lease acquisitions on behalf of the General Services Administration with projects across the United States and in Puerto Rico. To date Carr has managed over 100 Federal lease transactions. Current and past project sizes range from approximately 1,000 to 300,000 square feet with a collective value in excess of $100,000,000.
Carr and his family live on Lake Hartwell outside of Anderson, SC and maintain a residence in Greenville, SC. He and his wife, Catherine, have teenage and college age children. In his free time, Carr enjoys spending time with his family as well as repairing cars, boating, reading, and traveling.
Originally from Roswell, GA, Max came to the area in the fall of 2012 to attend Clemson University where he earned a degree in Packaging Science. He is now a permanent resident of the Western Upstate.
Before joining McCoy Wright in September of 2018, Max performed business development for a packaging consulting firm and served as an Account Executive with an industrial packaging distribution company. He is now fully engaged with the CRE industry and handles a variety of brokerage, leasing, and development roles within McCoy Wright. He is a member of the Western Upstate Board of REALTORS®, South Carolina Association of REALTORS®, National Association of REALTORS® and the International Council of Shopping Centers. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the United Way of Anderson.
Max has made a substantial impact on McCoy Wright and its community already having completed numerous transactions in the area of leasing for business owner/operators, successful transactions for financial institutions and investors as well as marketing development projects to national retail brands. Of note, Max recently pre-leased 90% of A & P Plaza, a downtown mixed use redevelopment project, 12 months prior to its completion.
He and his wife, Hannah, are enjoying their newlywed years with their golden doodles, Beau and Boomer. They reside in Anderson, SC proper and maintain a farm in “the country” where they both enjoy everything outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing.
Neal is a nearly lifelong resident of Anderson, SC retired after 40+ years of upper level management for Belk Stores. He is educated in the field of retail marketing and has extensive sales experience.
Shortly after retirement, he joined the McCoy Wright team in 2006, then after a couple years, accepted an offer to manage 4 Hospice Thrift Stores. Neal felt the draw back to commercial real estate and once again joined McCoy Wright in 2014. He is a member of Western Upstate Board of REALTORS®, South Carolina Association of REALTORS®, National Association of REALTORS®
Neal has serviced many clients in the downtown area as well as outlying communities of Belton and Honea Path. Additionally, he continues to broker properties in North Georgia. He is well versed in leasing and dealing with owner/operator clients relying on his extensive business experiences.
Neal has an extensive resume of community involvement to include: Founding Member & Board Member of the “Anderson County Development Partnership”, Member of the “Tri-County Technical College”- “Foundation Board”, Anderson University “Board of Visitors”, Member of “Rotary Club of Anderson”, Rotary International “Paul Harris Fellow”, GAMAC Board of Directors, Salvation Army Advisory Board, Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce Member and Board Member, Anderson County Museum Board, and the United Way Board of Directors. He and his wife reside in Anderson, SC.
John recently graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Financial Management with a minor in Accounting with a Real Estate emphasis. He became associated with McCoy Wright immediately upon graduation.
John hails from Saluda, SC where he spent the majority of time assisting his family in their farming and property management businesses. His background and upbringing are evident in his superior work ethic and get it done attitude.
He has quickly distinguished himself in the CRE community earning the trust and confidence of national brand retail developers and tenant reps to include Circle K, Dollar General, Zaxby’s and Popeyes to name a few. His work on large development projects such as Clemson Grove and site location engagements have produced successful results for both himself and his clients. John is quiet and determined with exceptional research skills.
He is a member of the Western Upstate Board of REALTORS®, South Carolina Association of REALTORS®, National Association of REALTORS® and the International Council of Shopping Centers. John now resides in Anderson, SC and spends most of his free time back in Saluda working the family businesses. He is an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer also raising champion hunting dogs.
Garrison Smith, originally from Anderson, SC, recently graduated from Clemson University in December 2021 with a Degree in Agri-Business with a Minor in Business Management and emphasis in Economics’. Garrison is a licensed real estate professional in South Carolina and a member of the Western Upstate Board of REALTORS®, South Carolina Association of REALTORS® and National Association of REALTORS®.
While at Clemson Garrison was a part of Kappa Sigma Fraternity where he helped organize philanthropy events and explored different opportunities by doing several Internships with the South Carolina Department of Agriculture as well with NAI Earle Furman in Greenville, SC. Garrison also participated in Helping Hands, Wounded Warriors Intramural Sports.
Garrison graduated from Pendleton High School in 2016 where he played on the baseball and golf team. He grew up at the T. Ed. Garrison Farmstead, an all-purpose farm here in the upstate where they host large agritourism events, concerts, and festivals. He has two French bulldogs, Leo and Ella as well as a pet Scottish cow named Willie Nelson. Garrison enjoys playing golf, hunting, snowboarding, riding motocross, working on the family farm, and spending time with his family. He also plans to be active in the Anderson community participating in Leadership Anderson, The Brew and other community events.
Jackson Williamson is a native of Anderson, SC and his family has deep community roots with backgrounds in banking and education. Jackson attended college at Miami of Ohio and continued at Newberry where he played football. Jackson is a licensed real estate professional in South Carolina and a member of the Western Upstate Board of REALTORS®, South Carolina Association of REALTORS® and National Association of REALTORS®.
He is an avid member at New Spring Church where he also volunteers and leads a group of high school men. In his spare time, you can find him at the Junkyard or at the golf course. He maintains an excellent command of happenings within the Anderson community.
Jackson has a sister who attends the University of South Carolina. His father is the Commercial Lender at First Citizens in Anderson, SC and mother is a 7th grade ELA teacher at Robert Anderson.
Jackson has and continues to demonstrate strong leadership skills and the desire to learn, overcome and achieve. “Our group is always growing leaders and Jackson embodies the skills, personality, and commitment level that is necessary to maintain and grow the strength of our company.”
Zane is a graduate of Anderson University with a degree in Finance and Accounting. Most recently he was employed in a Business Development capacity for a large multi-national manufacturer and supplier of OEM products for several industries including the automotive sector in the Western Upstate.
A native of Indianapolis, Indiana relocating to Anderson for his college education, Zane has a passion for people, business and real estate being an exceptional listener and communicator. His work ethic is evident in working his way through college in a foreign environment. He is eager to become more involved in the civic sector of the Anderson community and endeavors to attend many functions sponsored by a wide range of groups.
He is a member of the Western Upstate Board of REALTORS®, South Carolina Association of REALTORS® and National Association of REALTORS®.
Zane now resides in Anderson, SC, is a voracious reader and enjoys spending time outdoors hiking and camping with his friends.
Nancy Lu McCoy-Wright
Nancy Lu is a graduate of Clemson University and an Anderson native. She has continued her education in the fields of real estate, finance, and investment. The company considers her to be a Founder as she has worked in all aspects of the business through three generations.
Her grandfather T. Ree McCoy, Sr., began a construction and real estate development corporation in Anderson in 1952. Nancy Lu’s father, T-Ree McCoy, Jr., worked alongside his father until T. Ree, Sr.’s death in 1964 at which time T. Ree, Jr. carried the business forward with residential and commercial construction and development.
In 1977 Nancy Lu married John B. Wright, Sr. and in 1980 T. Ree, Jr. and John founded McCoy Wright Realty, Inc. which specialized in residential brokerage. By 1995, John as Owner and Broker in Charge made the decision to specialize exclusively in commercial and investment real estate which it continues to do today. She is a member of Western Upstate Board of REALTORS®, South Carolina Association of REALTORS®, National Association of REALTORS®
Nancy Lu is excited that all three of her children have continued in the “family” real estate tradition in Anderson. The entire family has a passion and love for the community that has been so good to their family with each having the desire to continue to make this the best place to work, live and raise their families. Their oldest child Ria Hydrick has a residential brokerage firm (Real Estate by Ria), younger daughter Luisa Webster has worked with McCoy Wright since 2007 as Chief Financial Officer but is currently taking some time off with her young family, and son John B Wright, Jr. has recently assumed the role as President and Owner of McCoy Wright as it becomes a 4th generation family business.
Nancy Lu and John reside in Anderson, SC and have been married for 44 years. In addition, to their grown children, they and have eight grandchildren. They are active members of NewSpring Church.
After 42 years as Office Administrator for Monumental Insurance, Gloria chose to retire. Soon after, she joined the McCoy Wright team and has been with them for over twenty years working in several different roles as our company has grown. She is now the Director of Finance, in charge of the financial aspect of our new company and offers a high level of loyalty and service to the company as well as support for the office staff. She also assists and supports our associate company, Legacy Property Services, in their daily financial activities.
Gloria is an active member of New Spring Church and attends Second Chance Church as well. She supports and enjoys volunteering with several organizations in honor of her late daughter.
She has a daughter and one granddaughter and treasures time with her family and adorable kitties, Prissy and Patches. Gloria’s favorite hobbies are reading, traveling, spending time with friends, and watching her Clemson Tiger’s football games.
Kristina was born and raised in Anderson, SC joining the firm in 2021 as head of operations. She held previous roles in the financial industry most notably with TD Bank and First Citizens Bank.
Kristina has an excellent background in customer service and uses these skills to help further drive McCoy Wright. Her oversight includes management and maintenance of company specific key performance indicators, details on all client and development agreements, listings, contracts, leases, critical dates and closing statements. Additionally, she crafts and deploys marketing and community involvement programs for McCoy Wright as well as exposing client properties and projects to a variety of local and national CRE digital platforms. Her direction also includes the branding and marketing package development for client properties.
She is well known in the western upstate market and has a great sense of community dynamics as they relate to our industry and company goals.
Kristina resides with her husband, Blake, in Townville, SC on Lake Hartwell. There they enjoy spending time on the water and with their dog, Brody.
Sabrina received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with majors in Banking and Finance from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. She has continued her education in various fields including Accounting, Spanish, and Personal Fitness. She is currently a SC licensed Property Manager and has a BOMI certification for Property Management Financial Proficiency (PMFP).
Before joining Legacy Property Services, she was a Bank Officer for Carolina First, managing consumer lending delinquency to below 1% on a multi-million dollar portfolio across four states. She also created an employee training program and employee review standards that was used for the Consumer Collections Department.
Since 2010, Sabrina has provided bookkeeping and payroll services for various clients in real estate, medical, retail, design, recruiting, and property development.
Sabrina oversees the accounting functions for Legacy Property Services and provides customized reporting to meet the needs of its clients. Through comprehensive accounting analysis, she prepares our clients for smooth tax preparation. Additionally, she maintains the accounting and financial directives for McCoy Wright, Inc.
Sabrina and her family live in Travelers Rest, SC. In her spare time, she enjoys teaching fitness classes and has completed five Marine Corp Marathons.
Angel is a native of Belton, SC but now resides in Anderson, SC. In 2015 she earned a bachelor’s degree in Nutrition from South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, SC. Upon graduation she was employed as a Dietary Manager at a Veteran’s Home. Her skills in management and leadership allowed for the transition into the role of Executive Assistant a seamless one. Angel is the Founder of a non-profit organization, Angel’s Elite Model Troupe. Angel is a model that has walked many runways, including New York Fashion Week. Angel enjoys traveling, trying new food, spending time with family and friends, and operating in creative capacities. Her favorite quote is “if you think you can, then you can. If you think you can’t, then you can’t. Either way you are right”.
Morganne is from Bluffton, SC originally, but moved to the upstate in the fall of 2021 and now resides in Anderson, SC. She earned two bachelor’s degrees in 2018 from the College of Charleston: one in Business Administration, Management and Marketing and the other in Hospitality and Tourism Management.
Morganne’s professional background includes 5 years in retail management at Palmetto Moon, 3 years working in the building safety department at the Town of Bluffton, and experience in project & program coordination in the uniform apparel industry. She has a strong customer service background and uses this ability to better service everyone she encounters, which is what she truly enjoys doing. Each of these roles has given her a strong and diverse skillset which has prepared her well for the role of Executive Assistant.
She has a 2-year-old son that keeps her busy and two Boykin Spaniels named Clyde and Dixie. In her free time, she enjoys lake days with friends and family on Lake Keowee.
Emma R. Williamson
Emma is a native of Augusta, GA and currently resides in Pendleton, SC while she pursues a major in architecture at Clemson University. She is scheduled to graduate in May of 2022.
Emma joined the McCoy Wright team in 2021 and specifically supports operations and marketing efforts for the firm. In her short time with the company, she has created and revised the company’s digital framework accounting for listings, inventory and transactional process flow. She supports the marketing efforts of client properties, filing processes and “front of the house” activities. Emma is currently re-working and revising all operational processes in a digital format. Company sponsored development project site plans, elevations and conceptuals are also undertaken by Emma.
She and is excited to lend a helping hand to the growing company. Emma is learning more about the commercial real estate business while also making meaningful connections along the way.
In her free time, Emma enjoys hiking, baking, and hanging out with her two cats.
