Richard Bennett

Senior Vice President, Development

Rich is a generational realtor of the Upstate community and began his real estate career in the residential housing/land development sector where he excelled in areas surrounding Lake Hartwell. He soon moved into the commercial area and expanded his focus in development, build-to-suite, and investment projects.

He serves as the Senior Vice President of Development for McCoy Wright, Inc., and primarily supplies the firm with development inventory and oversight of brokerage and contemplated development projects. He works with the firm’s brokerage staff on a daily basis to determine demand and absorption by national retailers and industrial users. He also provides direction to the company on financing, purchasing and construction strategies. He maintains an excellent command of horizontal & vertical development, financing, site work, utilities, infrastructure needs, investment and capital needs in all areas including single and multi-family, retail, specialty, self-storage and industrial development.

Rich’s development accomplishments are numerous and encompass, but not limited to, Watermark Luxury Condos (Lake Hartwell – multi-story with marina), McClain Pointe (Lake Hartwell – single family), Iron Harbor Self-Storage, Marina Road Self-Storage, Clemson Grove Self Storage, Clemson RV (RV Park – 400 spaces), Pendleton Plaza, A & P Plaza just to name a few. His completed build-to-suit projects include Little Caesars and Dollar Tree, along with retail projects to also include Magnetic South Brewery, Zaxby’s, AutoZone, Bojangles, Popeyes, Circle K, 7-Eleven, and many others.

Rich maintains excellent relationships throughout the Upstate community, lending success to development in conjunction with major employers, governments, and stakeholders in the community. His projects have supplied a higher level of home ownership and growth in areas, resulting in a more substantial tax base for several municipalities. Rich is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.

Rich and his wife, Heather, reside in Anderson (Lake Hartwell). They have one son, Lathan, who will soon enter the Commercial Real Estate business. Rich and his family enjoy offshore fishing and hunting.
