John B. Wright, Sr., CCIM

John began his career in real estate in 1976 and founded McCoy Wright Realty, Inc. in 1980. In 1995 he dedicated his real estate company solely to the commercial, investment and development fields.  He is a graduate of the Realtors Institute and is a licensed broker in both South Carolina. Notably John is a designee of the prestigious CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member®, the highest level of accreditation awarded to only 5% of commercial/investment realtors) and he has served as South Carolina CCIM President as well as on both the National CCIM Strategic Planning and Member Services committees.  In addition to holding a Certified General Appraisers License, he also has his General Contractor’s license. His broad scope of experience includes business consultation, sales, leasing, asset and property management, site analysis, appraisal, construction, development, investment analysis along with acquisition, sales, and leasing of residential, commercial and investment real estate. John is a Certified Mediator, and his strong negotiation skills and contract knowledge are valuable assets to his clients.

John attended the University of Tennessee at Martin where he played football and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. He is also a Carnegie Leadership and Performance Development graduate and served as an assistant Carnegie instructor.

John is very community minded and is currently on the Board of Directors for the Anderson University Board of Visitors and the Board of Directors of the Anderson Area Touchdown Club. Formerly, John served as President of the Anderson Association of Realtors Board of Directors. He is also a graduate of South Carolina Realtors Leadership Program. In addition, John served on the Board of Directors for the Anderson Free Clinic, the Board of Directors of the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce, as Chairman of the Chamber’s Transportation / Infrastructure Committee, and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Kiwanis Club and is a recipient of the Anderson Independent Mail’s 15 Over 50 award. During his years as President and Broker in Charge of McCoy Wright Realty, Inc., the company received the Costar Award a total of six times as one of the Top 10 transaction brokers in the upstate. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.

John has always been actively engaged in sports and his hobbies have included long distance running, marathon competitions, martial arts, rowing, and coaching basketball and football.

He and his wife, Nancy Lu, have been married 44 years and reside in Anderson, SC. They have three married children, eight grandchildren and are active members of NewSpring Church.
