Eddie Smith

Director of Business Development
Eddie Smith is originally from Mt. Airy, Georgia, a little town known as the highest point on the Southern Railway. He has spent his entire adult life in the Upstate of South Carolina. He attended Bob Jones University in Greenville and began a teaching career, starting with Tri-County Technical College, then Anderson University, and ultimately landing a long career at Clemson University. There, he was not only a popular teacher of communications, but he also advised pre-law students, directed study abroad, and frankly played many roles on the university campus.
Retiring after thirty years of teaching, Eddie has decided to serve the community in a new role. He will be working to attract new business not only to McCoy Wright but also to the people of the Upstate. He will be working to show the potential our state has to offer in industry, agriculture, and tourism. He enjoys travel and is a history buff, almost to a fault, spending time researching the beautiful story of the Upstate of South Carolina. Living in downtown Clemson means football season never really ends, and nobody ever says goodbye; it is see you next game.
